A powerful landscape can stun a viewer; it can leave them humbled. The honest character of such sublime scenery can even change a person. I have often felt this effect when traveling the isolated landscapes of Alaska and the territories that connect it to the continental US- harsh environments that are hauntingly desolate and unforgiving to their inhabitants. Over the past decade I have traveled the Alaska Canadian Highway (ALCAN) numerous times, photographing further and deeper into the remote crevices of Alaska, Yukon, and Northwest Territories. There are times I have felt so small driving through this vast wilderness- trees and mountains stretching beyond my sight, seemingly limitless and pure; it is an experience like no other.
